In the theoretical part, I focused on the definition, physiology of pain, its division, diagnosis, pain assessment, therapeutic procedures in pain management, factors affecting pain, the role of the general nurse in the treatment of patients with chronic pain, pain management centres and a general description of the quality of life and the specific quality of life of patients with chronic pain. The empirical part presents the results of a quantitative investigation in the form of a non-standardized questionnaire that focused on questions related to chronic pain and a standardized WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire that assessed overall quality of life and health status.
